The museums are wonderful and so much fun for kids. The Shedd aquarium and Field museum are great, you'll have so much fun at both places. Be sure to see a dolphin show at the Shedd; they have shows throughout the day, so be sure to look at the schedule when you arrive so you know what time to go get seats to watch the show! Also, outside in front of the aquarium is a great lawn area that is perfect for taking pictures in front of the city skyline! In case anyone is interested, for older kids, the Art Institute is AMAZING.

A word of caution about Navy Pier: If you run out of time it is probably the one place that can be skipped. As someone else said, the Ferris wheel is cool but could be scary for young kids and definitely not for anyone who is even marginally afraid of heights. Again, already mentioned, there are a lot of overpriced "trinket" shops so if you'd rather save your money to be spent at AG or elsewhere in Chi, stay away from Navy Pier. There are also a lot of overpriced food and bars at Navy Pier. It's a fun place and worth seeing, but IMO not the most impressive part of Chicago.

As for food for a 10 year old, you could try the famous Chicago style hot dogs that are sold all over town or famous Chicago deep dish pizza at Pizzeria Uno.

Near AGP on MI Ave is the Apple store, which is kind of a neat store to stop in because you can play with the Apple computers and iPods. Warning: might be difficult to drag your DH away from that store. [img]wink.gif[/img]
